Bates Joinery was founded in 1979 by Reid "Reg" Bates on custom timber doors and sashes. His son, Greg Bates, grew the business into the joinery specialists we are today.
Our process hasn't changed much over the decades, because it works: we meet with clients to understand what they need, design and quote the job, then carry it through from factory floor to on-site installation.
We handle everything from a simple entertainment cabinet to full architectural fit-outs — wardrobes, laundries, sculleries, designer kitchens, dens, wine cellars, media rooms, and solid timber stairs and balustrades.
We're one of the few joinery companies left in Christchurch still manufacturing custom solid timber windows and doors, from replacing a single rotten sash to sophisticated bi-fold and sliding doors. Our modern premises pairs a state-of-the-art CNC flatbed with the traditional tools the trade still relies on, and we stay ahead of new hardware and production methods to keep delivering the best for our customers.
